its great to have mornings like this. and all this in the middle of the town, in the middle of the week. and super, when you can share them with the right company. what makes it even better is, that we decided to do this more often now, specially with the winter like this. but then, also other melina will be there. and some more. melina, do you see what a special cup is waiting for you?*

posebna jutra/special mornings
super je, ko so takšna jutra. in to sredi mesta in sredi tedna. in tolko bolj fino je, ko jih lahko deliš s pravo kompanijo. in ker smo se zmenli, sploh če bo taka zima, da bo takih jutr od zdej več, je še sploh fino. ampak takrat bo zram tut druga melina. in še kdo. melina, vidiš kakšna posebna šalca te čaka?*

I wish all Saturdays were like this….
First, a trip to the farmers’ market, where I wanted to eat every single thing at every single stand, immediately if not sooner. Failing that, taking it all home and eating it there would have also been quite satisfying.
But, alas, one has to be disciplined and make difficult choices. So, we ended up buying and taking home some organic (or ‘bio’ as they call it here) lemons and cherry tomatoes, a loaf of home-made bread, olives stuffed with almonds and seasoned with basil, garlic, pimiento and onion, an unsightly but delicious package of fresh foie gras…. and a dozen oysters! On their shells, there were still some worm-like sea creatures still alive and crawling around, so I guess they were fresh out of the ocean.
Then, after some considerable (and hands-endangering) efforts, the oysters were opened and lunch was served…. outside in the garden, in mid-December.
So, yeah, I am eating well. Southern France, it seems, is all it is cracked up to be, both weather and culinary-wise.

vrt pozimi/garden in the winter
true, that the garden looks different now, but its also true, that there is leek to get there at the moment. this makes things better. all in all its nice, when you find a photo that you forgot about. even better when you find a photo like this in the winter. bit more and we are there again.

oktobrsko-novembrska istra/istra in october-november
potato-rosemary-garlic crackersto go to istria is something that has to be on the list more often. and if there is an option to go there passing buzet, to make a pause at the great place to eat, even better. if not, also ok. this istra week was great. super crew, very friendly weather (also to be in t-shirt and to go to swim for some). we also tried to climb a bit, ate breakfasts on terrace, eating great in general, having a mini 80s party and finding new places to go for a walk where then you get herbs to make pasta, rosemary potato bread, soup and goulash. and next strudl from home grown apples. am not sure something more is needed. and it was today that i heard that there is 15 degrees there. hm....when is the leaving time?
